Old Woods Progression Guide: Routes, Mill, Campsite & Key Tasks
A task-first route through the Old Woods, including the Mill, Local Jogger’s Club secret routes, Ancient Tree progression and what is actually verified before full release.
Why players get stuck here
The Old Woods is larger than the early town loop and works more like a dungeon region. Developer/tutorial footage describes it as a second major dungeon-style area after the Mall, while current task data shows multiple routes that only open after specific task chains.
The key route: Local Jogger’s Club
The task chain currently documents this progression:
- Speak with Michelle at the Campsite.
- Speak with Barry at the Jogger’s Club.
- Obtain the Mill Key in the Old Woods.
- Enter the Mill and defeat the six Fingerlings to get the Lost Mirror.
- Return to Barry, then speak with Michelle to learn the first secret route.
- Retrieve a Verdite Ore east of the Bus Stop.
- Speak with Michelle again to learn the second route.
Those secret routes open access east of the Bus Stop and west of the Mill.
Ancient Tree progression
A separate job chain currently points players deeper into the woods: reach the Campsite, work through the Jogger’s Club route, then defeat the Ancient Tree. That is the kind of dependency the journal does not always communicate clearly, so use the task chain rather than wandering every branch.
Fishing in the Old Woods
The Campsite is a real fishing location. Current verified catches include Ancient Pike, Goldfish, Aetherfin and Razorfish using Dragonfly bait.
Before you leave town
Bring food, functioning gear and inventory space. The developer’s tutorial explicitly frames equipment upgrades and food stock as the two most important checks before pushing dangerous areas.
