Mysteries Guide: How Resets, Luck & Rewards Work
How Welcome to Elderfield mysteries behave, why bathing resets them, and a compact list of currently verified high-value Old Woods mystery outcomes.
How mysteries work
Mysteries are world interactions that trigger die rolls. Luck influences many of those rolls, and some mystery tables include unusually low/high hidden outcomes. Unlike one-and-done collectibles, world mysteries reset when you bathe, which makes them repeatable sources of risk and rewards.
That reset rule is easy to miss because bathing also restores HP/MP and clears many temporary blessings/curses. In practice, a bath is both healing and a world-state reset.
Old Woods examples worth knowing
The current wiki records several mystery spots around the Abandoned Mill, clearing, tall-tree area and campsite. Verified rewards include items such as Cleansing Balm, coin boxes, an Extra Pouch, Crystal Flask, Lost Mariner’s Bauble, rings/necklaces and rare seeds. Some failed/low rolls can instead cause curses or combat.
A better way to use mystery information
Do not memorize every roll. Use this decision rule:
- Need progression item / unique reward? Target the specific mystery and raise Luck first.
- Just farming loot? Batch mystery checks before bathing so you do not reset the route mid-run.
- Running low on food? Stop. Mystery combat can turn a resource run into a reset.
Current research gap
The official/community wiki still contains incomplete roll cells. This page intentionally does not fill those blanks. Full-release mystery tables should be audited again after Sep 10.
