Clear plots before optimizing crops

Farm plots begin blocked by Ghost Tentacles. Cleansing Balm clears them and expands usable farmland. Long-form demo footage and the current wiki agree on this progression, so treating Cleansing Balm as disposable cash is usually a bad early decision.

Crop timing rule

Grow times are counted in nights, not including the planting day. A four-night crop planted on day 1 is ready on day 5. Watering is required for that night’s growth; skipping water pauses growth instead of killing the crop.

Protect crops from crows

Crows can eat growing crops unless a scarecrow covers the plot. Fully grown crops are not eaten by crows in the current demo data.

Seasonal risk

A season changes after day 28. Crops that do not belong to the new season wither. Use the Crop Planner to check whether a first harvest lands before the season boundary.

The Tax Man is part of farming progression

A long-form demo review reports the Tax Man arriving roughly every two weeks and demanding specified crop items. Success/failure can produce buffs/debuffs. That means selling every crop is not always optimal; keep a buffer for cooking and tax requests.
